Volunteer Opportunities

We have a welcoming, dedicated and diverse volunteer community and would love for you to join us.

We are particularly looking for people who have had experience of NRPF in their own lives.

It is more important to us who you are, not what you have done. Previous experience of doing this type of work is not essential, but we do need you to be committed to our shared goals, which are about improving life for people with NRPF, and ultimately changing immigration laws and policies.

If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the contact form below with as much detail as you feel comfortable providing (the questions are all designed to give us an idea of whether we’ll be a good fit) or email us. We'll get back in touch as soon as possible.

We are currently recruiting for these roles. Unless otherwise specified, these are voluntary positions, but in every case we can offer travel, childcare and other expenses to help cover costs:

  • CASEWORK (one day per week, 6 month commitment)
Please note that we usually recruit new casework volunteers every few months, but will respond to all applications.

You will help people with NRPF to make applications to have the NRPF restriction removed.
This work usually involves interviewing applicants, gathering evidence, writing submissions and analysing finances.
You will usually work in a pair, and will be expected to help train up others once you are settled into the work.
You will be offered ongoing training and supervision.
    No prior experience necessary.
    Read more here.

  • TRUSTEES
Our project is guided by a board of trustees, who have specific relevant skills and experience. If you are interested in learning more about this role, there are some further details and a contact form about this here.

  • DATA/STATS RESEARCHER (flexible hours, long-term commitment)
No current opportunities, but please contact us if you’re interested in future.
The Home Office releases limited data about NRPF. This data is often the basis for campaign work and litigation. We are looking for someone who wants to work with us to extract, collate and analyse this data. According to your interests, this might involve formulating FOIs and parliamentary questions, creating graphics and identifying trends and gaps. You need to have experience in statistics and spreadsheets, knowledge of the NRPF policy and be self-motivated and curious.

  • CHILDCARE (Tuesdays, 11am - 3pm, regular commitment but not necessarily weekly)
Temporarily suspended due to remote-working, but please contact us if you’re interested in future.
Come and have fun caring for the children of our applicants and volunteers. Parents are usually very stressed by their situation and children are often living in very difficult situations. Please help us make Tuesday sessions the highlight of their week while we work with their parents to improve their living situations in the long-term.

  • FOOD COLLECTION (Tuesdays, 8-9am, regular commitment but not necessarily weekly)
Temporarily suspended due to remote-working, but please contact us if you’re interested in future.

We prepare a lunch from food that is donated by local shops, which would otherwise go to waste. We are looking for someone local, ideally with a car, that can help us with collecting food from local shops. This would be perfect for someone looking to do a morning good deed before work!
